Black Face Sheep with Haytor in the mist
Black Face Sheep with Haytor in the mist

Black Face Sheep with Haytor in the mist. I was out in the early morning. I set out from Manaton in the dark, over Hayne Down, to Houndtor, and then on across the Becka Brook to Haytor Down. I came across these lovely Scots Blackface sheep. The conditions were icy cold. These sheep were bred for the Scottish Highlands so cope well on Dartmoor. The small flock was sheltering by the hawthorn tree. Haytor is just visible through the mist. I used an aperture of f/3.5 to isolate the sheep and blur the background, aided by the mist!
