Haytor at dawn from Houndtor, I started off in the dark on foot from Manaton. The snow was icy and the stars out. I trekked over Hayne Down, past the Bowerman's nose and arrived at Hountor predawn. In the blue hour, the ambiance was awesome as the snow bounced the blue pre-dawn light around. I couldn't find a sensible composition but stood and observed the scene in wonder. I had gone out, with this shot in mind, with the Apache face on the right. I used graduated neutral density filters to control the contrast in the dawn sky to record everything as the eye sees the scene. I then walked on to a cist to see if I could record the first light hitting Houndtor.
